    It’s easy to pay using your debit or credit card. And you can give a meter reading and make payments online as often as you like. You'll need to pay each outstanding amount separately, but you'll be given the option to make another payment at the end of each payment.


    If you pay by credit card, you'll be charged a 0.39% handling fee for each transaction you make.

    Banking online or by phone allows you to make secure payments from your bank account directly to us.
    How do I use it?

    • You will need to speak to your bank to register for their phone or internet banking service.
    • You will need your gas or electricity account number, which is 10 digits long.

    What other ways can I pay my bill?

    We have a wide range of ways you can pay your bill. Our most popular way is by monthly Direct Debit, which can save you up to £80 a year off your energy bill.** Other ways include Internet banking, at the Post Office or by even using your mobile so you're sure to find a way to suit you.

    How can I find out what my account balance is? 

    Your latest bill will show your balance up to the date it was billed to, but won’t show any debits or credits since then.
    If you have an online account, you can check your balance whenever you need to by logging in. The balance we show will include any debits or credits since we last billed you. However, it can take one working day to update if you make a payment for example.
    If you don’t have an online account, you can register for one using our form. Or you can contact us and we’ll let you know what your account balance is.

    I want to pay my up to date balance online – how do I find out what it is?

    If you have an online account, then it will show what your current account balance is when you log in, including any debits or credits. If you give us a meter reading, we’ll tell you your usage since your last bill and the cost. Depending on when you had or are due a bill we may rebill your account or use this reading towards the next bill.

    Can I make payments every time I update my online account?

    Yes, there's no limit to how many payments you can make online. You can login, give a meter reading and make payments as often as you like to help keep your account on track.

    Please note, if you pay by credit card you'll be charged a handling fee for each credit card transaction you make.

    I’ve just made a payment towards my bill - should I let you know?

    If you’ve made a payment it should show on your account within a few days, so you don’t normally need to let us know. But if you have a payment plan and you made your payment later than you were supposed to, you could contact us to confirm that your payment plan is still in place.

    Can I pay online using an American Express card?

    No, we don't accept American Express for online payments. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and Solo.

    Yes, our trouble paying your bill section is there for anyone who is having, or thinks they might have trouble paying. We have a wide range of ways we can help and urge people to get in touch with us if they're experiencing any difficulties.

    Use our Direct Debit form to give us your details online.

    What information do I need to set up a Direct Debit?

    You’ll need:
    • Your personal details
    • Your house number and postcode
    • Your customer account number, if you have it
    • Your bank account number
    • Your bank sort code
    • A meter reading (so we can make sure you’re paying the right amount)

    How do I change my Direct Debit payment amount?

    Take a meter reading from your gas and electricity meter (it helps us to check how much energy you’re using). 
    Then ask for a review or suggest a new amount using our Direct Debit form.

    I can’t afford my Direct Debit payments, what do I do?

    If you’re having difficulties paying for your bills, we’re here to help. The best thing to do is get in contact with us. We’ll work with you and do our best to find an affordable solution for you.

    We have a wide range of ways you can pay your bill. Pay by monthly Direct Debit and get a discount per fuel, per year.*

    What happens to my meter reading when I enter it online?

    If you’ve logged into your account and given us a reading, we’ll tell you your new balance and how much you’ve used since your last bill straight away. Or if you’ve given us a reading using our online form, it can take up to five days for your account to be updated.

    If you’re due a bill in the next two weeks, we’ll use your reading to bill you. If you’ve had a bill in the last four weeks, we’ll update it and send you a new one.

    I’ve forgotten my password - what should I do?

    Go to the login page and click on 'Forgotten your login details?', then enter the email address you used to register your online account. We'll send you a link by email that will allow you to log in. As a security measure, this link will expire after 30 minutes. Once you're logged in, you'll be asked to change your password.

    How do I change my password?

    Log in to your account, then go to the 'About you' section. Under 'Your password' enter your new password and click 'update' at the bottom of the page.

  • *If you have a standard variable tariff, your energy prices are capped and the maximum price you pay (known as a cap) is set by Ofgem, the energy regulator. If you pay by Direct Debit or standing order, your standing charge and unit prices will be discounted. Your discount will vary depending on how much energy you use, where you live and your meter type. If you qualified for Warm Home Discount before 1 August 2019, your prices will be discounted regardless of how you pay.
